www.genealogieonline.nl/genealogie-elsevier-elzevier
The Elsevier/Elzevier families This genealogical tree is one out of two trees which together comprise ALL Elseviers and Elzeviers mentioned in literature and public registries. Apparently there are two independent families Elsevier: One family (H) dates back to around 1600 in Huijbergen, southwest Brabant (The Netherlands) and leads in the 21st century to many descendants Elsevier in The Netherlands (many in West-Brabant) and Elseviers in Belgium. Their tree contains in total approximately 200 out of over 750 people ever with the name Elsevier or similar. A public version (excluding privacy sensitive data) of this tree can be found on: https://bit.ly/GenE4Corn. The other family (L, this tree) dates back to around 1500 in Leuven (Belgium) and Leiden (The Netherlands) with Louis (±1547-1617, L-II-b), the ancestor of the booksellers, publishers and printers well known in the 17th century and thereafter. Patrilineal descendants of this family are named both Elsevier and Elzevier as well as Elsevier Balfour and Rammelman Elsevier. Since 2010 in Europe only Elzevier is alive (in The Netherlands and France and possibly in Belgium) where all patrilineal descendants named Elsevier live in the USA.
